Fribourg’s open-air swimming is up and running again, and will remain open throughout the summer right up until September. Not only can you do a few laps of the pool, La Motta is the perfect spot to catch some rays, or maybe even play a spot of soccer, basketball or volleyball.

My town, my playground… With entertainment, workshops and games aplenty, the Ludimania’K festival is a fun way to discover the picturesque region of La Broye.

Always wanted to check out Fribourg’s museums but never had time? Museum Night may just be the answer to your problem. On 29 May 2010, Fribourg’s museum will be open, for one night only, from 4pm to midnight.

24 June - 3 July 2010, Belluard Bollwerk International 2010, Fribourg
Now in its 27th year, the Belluard Bollwerk International Festival has always showcased thought-provoking and challenging art. The 2010 edition, which will feature some 20 contemporary art projects, is set to continue in the same vein and is sure to get visitors talking.

26 June 2010: 10th Route Gourmande du Vully, Le Vully, Praz
This 3.5 km-long trail through the vineyards of Le Vully is a fantastic way to discover and sample the region’s culinary traditions and specialties, still being made today by local restaurateurs, bakers and cheese-makers.

26-27 June and 2-4 July 2010, 2010 Cantonal Gymnastics Meet, Bulle
The Bouleyres stadium in Bulle will host the 2010 Cantonal Gymnastics Meet. Held every six years, the meet takes place over two weekends and will be attended by more than 3,000 gymnasts from all over Switzerland.

2 - 16 July 2010, Lucia di Lammermoor – Open-air opera festival, Avenches
For the first time in its 2,000-year-old history, Avenches amphitheatre will provide the backdrop for Lucia di Lammermoor, Gaetano Donizetti’s bel canto masterpiece. Set in 18th century Scotland, it has all the ingredients you expect from a tragic love story: desire, hate, intrigue, elopement, madness and death.

Summertime means festival time, and Fribourg’s long-running music festival, the Jazz Parade, will definitely have you dancing in the street!

Between 17 July and 17 August, come experience Fribourg's Open Air Cinema held in the beautiful setting of a medieval fortress. All English-speaking movies are played in the original English version, with subtitles in both French and German.

From Tuesday 20 July to 17 August 2010, tour of an alpine chalet, Charmey
Discover the centuries-old art of summer cheese-making with help from your tour guide and the armailli (mountain farmer) himself, who will be ready and waiting to let you in on the secrets of his trade! As the milk warms through in the big cheese kettle, you’ll have the chance to sample some of the farmer’s home-made specialties, including double cream, wafer-thin waffles and other sweet treats. The tour offers a fascinating insight into traditional alpine life.

What I like about Switzerland:
Switzerland is one of the most beautiful countries I have ever been to - the landscape is what my husband and I like to call "eye candy". 

There is always so much to enjoy in Switzerland from living a basic great outdoor life to experiencing Cultural festivals and museums.

I believe Switzerland is one of those countries were you have the opportunity to both work and experience life to its fullest!
 

What I don't like about Switzerland:
No ocean.

My message to other expatriates living in Fribourg:
Do as we ozzies like to say "Just get out there and enjoy Switzerland"!
